Over the past few years, God has been calling us to a deeper relationship and commitment to Him. During this time, Jeff has been making yearly trips to Bongolo Hospital in Gabon, Africa. He, along with physician colleagues minister to the physical and spiritual needs of patients, as well as teach and disciple the hospital physicians and staff. During one of these short-term trips, God impressed upon Jeff the need for a full-time anesthesiologist to meet the needs of the hospital and the patients it serves. After much discussion, investigation, and prayer with family and friends, we set out on the process to serve God at Bongolo full-time. In the preparation phases of fundraising and language study, we felt God’s hand lead us on a faith-filled journey. Now that we have arrived at Bongolo, He continues to be our source of strength and comfort. We are officially designated as International Workers for the Christian and Missionary Alliance, the entity who founded Bongolo Hospital and continues to support it to this day. We are partners with and sent by our local church, Centerville Community Church.
We serve at Bongolo Hospital for God’s glory--using our skills and talents to bring lost people into relationship with Him (1 Corinthians 2:2).
Hospital and Mission Team Service
Through Christ and His example of compassion and mercy for the sick and disadvantaged, we join the Bongolo mission team to serve the people of Gabon (Matthew 9:35-36). We are dedicated to serving Bongolo Hospital and its clinical and administrative needs.
Training and Discipling Program
People in underserved and under-resourced areas of Africa are dying of treatable surgical diseases. It is estimated that 56 million people in Africa need surgical care today. Aside from the lack of necessary equipment and facilities, the burden for properly educated and trained surgeons and anesthesia providers is dramatic. Training Africans to stay in Africa is a key objective to reverse the course of unnecessary surgical disease and death. In conjunction with the ongoing surgical training program (Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons), we will begin an anesthesia training program at Bongolo. We are dedicated to train and disciple African anesthesia providers with the goal of sending them out to serve and minister throughout West Africa (2 Timothy 2:2).
